WHAT IS THE SAN HEALTH PROGRAM?

*Meetings Held Every Last Wednesday of Each Month at 10:00AM at Senior Action Network.

The SAN Health Committee has a rich history of fighting for universal access to health care, Medicare expansion, safety net preservation and patient rights. Come and join the Health Program and work with dozens of senior activists for better health care for seniors and everyone.

SAN has been instrumental at the state level in passing legislation for seniors, sponsoring a number of bills in the Patient Bill of Rights, measures for protection of seniors in nursing homes, and consumer protections for HMO members.

SAN members collected more signatures for the 1994 Prop 186 Universal Healthcare ballot proposition than any other organization in the state.

SAN organized a series of public forums to oppose changes in the Medicare program in the mid-90’s, and sponsored Town Hall Meetings across the state in 1998 to press the Medicare Commission to extend Medicare coverage instead of creating a national voucher program.

SAN, also through its staff and healthcare committees has educated and involved hundreds of seniors on healthcare quality issues, given referrals for hundreds of healthcare questions, and served as a healthcare resource for the 135 organizations networked in SAN.

We invite all seniors, 50 years and up, to join our Health Program. Come and make a difference in your community, your city, your state and your world.
