Free Computer Training
Are you new to computers? Do you wonder what they do and why you would want to use one? Welcome—you're in the right place! Senior Action Network is offering free basic computer training classes for all seniors and adults with disabilities. Computer literacy gives seniors access to a considerable network of information and people. Many seniors want to learn to use computers but have trouble finding suitable training. This Introduction to Computers course is specifically tailored for seniors and adults with disabilities who have never used personal computers in the past. This class will teach you new ways to communicate with distant friends and relatives and how to use the Internet to find information and have fun. Classes will cover: - Basic computer operations; - Basic computer vocabulary such as email, URL, www, and browser; - Setting up your own personal email account; - Using web browsers to travel the World Wide Web; - Safeguarding your personal Information (security); - Introduction to Word processing; - Introduction to spreadsheets; and, - Introduction to PowerPoint Presentations. This is a lecture-lab class in which topics are presented by the instructor. Concepts will be explained during class and students will follow along with a training manual. Each week students are assigned homework to so that they can practice their newly learned skills on their own time during the week. This basic computer class assumes that the student has no previous experience or training using a personal computer.
